SYD Consulting was founded by Stephanie Yang in 2005 to better support individual donors, families and philanthropic institutions in the practice of social justice and values-based philanthropy. We believe that it is through the intentional alignment of vision and the consistent practice of values that the strategic and effective distribution of philanthropic dollars takes place.

Stephanie Yang has been actively involved in social change and community based philanthropy since 2000. She is the principal and founder of SYD Consulting, a private firm that works with foundations, individual donors and families on values-based program development and social justice philanthropy.

Most recently, she served as the Director of Programs at Changemakers, a national foundation that supports and promotes community-based philanthropy. Over the years, Stephanie has presented at numerous philanthropy conferences, including the Council on Foundations and the Association of Small Foundations, on issues of leadership, accountability and next generation concerns.

Stephanie also engages in this work as a philanthropist and donor organizer. She is a member of the Gulf South Allied Funders which is a national giving circle and through this work, she is continually exploring creative ways to partner with organizations she supports in her role as donor and constituent.

Stephanie received her BA from UCLA and her MA in French Literature from Tulane University where she specialized in film and feminist theory.

Stephanie is an artist and filmmaker and the founder of Shifting Narratives, an independent film collective and online community for short narrative films that promote social justice and human rights.
